MORE THAN A SCHOOL PROJECT

GROUP PROJECT - INTRO

DESCRIPTION

As 1 of 3 universities worldwide, Howest was selected by Volkswagen to think about tomorrow’s car. Howest created ‘The Collective’ which represents the multidisciplinary project and team. I was lucky to be a part of this team as a last year 3D & VFX student (alumni DAE, class of 2018-2019).

As a multidisciplinary team, we worked on this project for Volkswagen about the mobility of the future. In Wolfsburg, we presented along other selected colleges (with a different background) our findings to the VW Design Team. The Collective consisted of 12 student: 4 people of DAE (Digital Arts and Entertainment), 4 people of Devine (Digital Design Development) and 4 people of IPO (Industrial Product Design).

During this project, we went to Supernova in Antwerp and the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven to gather inspiration and expand our network. Finally, while we were in Wolfsburg for the final presentation we also got a guided tour by the VW Design Team in Autostadt.

GROUP PROJECT - VFX SIMULATION

DESCRIPTION

Animation was created in Houdini, rendered in Maya (Arnold), mainly composited in After Effects and visualized on led panels (6m x 1m).

BE HYBRID

GROUP PROJECT - VFX SIMULATION

DESCRIPTION

Conceptualizing and visualizing creating innovative products based on old-found designs. Cloth simulation was made in Maya and smoke layer was made in post and composited( green screen footage) in After Effects.

MINIATURE WORLDS

GROUP PROJECT - 3D PRODUCTION

DESCRIPTION

Conceptualizing four different worlds with an abstract scale model: Expanding, Hybrid, Biodome and Nomadic respectively.

FAMILIAR FACE OR DYSTOPIAN FUTURE?

GROUP PROJECT - CONCEPT & ANIMATION

DESCRIPTION

Conceptualizing and visualizing a UI if it would be represented by a human-like character.

I started from the following model due to time restrictions (this project was made in 4 days): https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/character/woman/adult-female-head-rigged


I animated and re-textured this rigged model. I have also made a hair sim with Maya Xgen and nHair. This animation was eventually visualized on a Holovice (https://holovice.eu/).

2D Animatics - Four Worlds, Four Personas

PUPPET MASTER

GROUP PROJECT - ANIMATIC

DESCRIPTION

Four animatics conceptualizing different personas living in their future world (Expanding, Hybrid, Biodome and Nomadic). 2D art was made in Adobe Illustrator. Rigs, animation and comp in Adobe After Effects with Duik Bassel plug-in. Thibeau Scarceriaux (IPO) helped me with creating the 2D art.
